Abstract

A novel beat-spectrum tailoring technique for regenerative and harmonic mode-locking which eliminates the use of the high-Q RF filter and suits for high-repetition-rate operation in a fiber laser is demonstrated. A fiber Fabry-Perot filter incorporated within the cavity alters the beat-spectrum conveniently, yields the necessary clock signal, and enables regenerative mode-locking at repetition rates which are step-tunable at intervals of the free spectral range of the Fabry-Perot filter.
