Abstract

Multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) system is evaluated significantly to increase the channel capacity, but conventional MIMO system has disadvantages such as high-complexity and high-power-consumption. Beamspace MIMO system using electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antenna with single radio frequency chain has been studied actively in order to solve these problems. In this paper, we design binary phase shift keying (BPSK) modulated beamspace MIMO system using ESPAR antenna for the low complexity and low power consumption. Also, for the first time, chaos communication algorithm is applied into the beamspace MIMO system for security improvement, and we evaluate the performance of this proposed system. From the simulation results, BPSK modulated chaos beamspace MIMO system using ESPAR antenna is able to reduce the complexity and the power consumption. Also, it is possible to improve the security without bandwidth spread and performance degradation.
