Abstract

In this paper, a methodology for partial field decomposition is presented that is based on the beamforming algorithm for the application of acoustical holography to the composite sound fields generated by multiple incoherent sound sources. The unique aspect of the method is the use of estimated source signals identified via beamforming as reference source signals in the decomposition procedure. Numerical simulations are performed with particular emphasis on the robustness of the proposed technique under various situations. The experimental results show that the method identifies source signals very effectively regardless of the distance from source to reference and also has potential for use in distributed sources.
