Abstract

This paper presents a new base station antenna array beam steering technique, which realizes beam steering using transmission metasurface as superstrate. Meanwhile, base station antenna array realizes beam steering without digital phase shifters. The simulation show that the base station antenna array has good radiation characteristics, including stable radiation patterns with horizontal half-power beam-width 65°±5, and cross-polarization discrimination less than −11.5 dB in operational frequency band. The proposed base station antenna array achieves a continuous beam control from 10° to −10° by adjusting transmission metasurface in 2.45-2.75GHz, which realized gain variation amplitude is less than 0.3dB.
