Abstract

We demonstrate that a Bose-Einstein condensate that interacts with a standing wave in a cavity shows the same Bragg oscillations as a single atom. This may serve as a basis for the construction of a beam splitter for condensates. The setup is compared with the beam splitter for condensates based on a standing laser wave.
