Abstract

The single-electron charge transfer process between N 2+ and He was investigated in low energy scattering experiments over the collision energy range 3.8–12.0 eV (c.m.). Relative differential and integral cross sections were obtained from scattering diagrams for the state-to-state processes of formation of N + ( 1 D) and N + ( 3 P) products in collisions of N 2+ ( 2 P) + He( 1 S). The ratio of integral cross sections of the two states formation, σ int( 1 D)/σ int( 3 P), decreases from 1.0 to 0.7 between 3.8 and 12.0 eV.
