Abstract
A single varactor-tuned element is investigated as effective solution for the realization of reconfigurable reflectarray antennas. The proposed configuration is successfully implemented for the design of an <i >X</i>-band reflectarray prototype of <svg style="vertical-align:-0.3135pt;width:40.512501px;" id="M1" height="11.2625" version="1.1" viewBox="0 0 40.512501 11.2625" width="40.512501" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"> <g transform="matrix(1.25,0,0,-1.25,0,11.2625)"> <g transform="translate(72,-62.99)"> <text transform="matrix(1,0,0,-1,-71.95,63.35)"> <tspan style="font-size: 12.50px; " x="0" y="0">3</tspan> <tspan style="font-size: 12.50px; " x="9.0271664" y="0">×</tspan> <tspan style="font-size: 12.50px; " x="19.804752" y="0">1</tspan> <tspan style="font-size: 12.50px; " x="26.056252" y="0">5</tspan> </text> </g> </g> </svg> radiators. A dedicated electronic control board is designed as an integral part of the antenna. Good performances in terms of beam-scanning capabilities are obtained from measurements.
