Abstract

A study of the transient behavior of nonlinear tapered optical waveguide is presented. The Fresnel equation with an input Gaussian field distribution is solved numerically using a combination of the semivectorial-polarized finite difference method and the Runge-Kutta method. The calculated results show that the tapered nonlinear waveguides have better wave-guiding characteristics in potential applications.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
