Abstract

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement is a campaign that seeks to put pressure on Israel to adopt its stated aims, which include ‘ending its occupation and colonialisation of all Arab lands’, ‘recognising the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality’, and ‘respecting, protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties’.1 The BDS movement has gained much notoriety in the US, UK and elsewhere in recent years, and universities are particularly important sites for its activities.
