Abstract
We demonstrate reach extension for 400GBASE-LR8 signals in an installed multimanufacturer multicore fibre link with the use of bismuth-doped fibre amplifier as a preamplifier. The reach is extended to 28 km and we show that the accumulated intercore-crosstalk does not cause any frame loss over 24 hours. This connectorised multimanufacturer multicore fibre configuration with off-the-shelf transceivers can support a single fibre throughput of 1.6 Tb/s.
