Abstract
ABSTRACT Photometric and spectroscopic observations of the short-period variable star BD + 43 deg 1894 are presented. UBV photoelectric observations carried out over a period of three months show that the light of the star varies within the same night with a period of 0.0982747 day, and is bluer at light maxima than at light minima. Spectrograms obtained at a dispersion of 110 A/mm at three separate orbital phases exhibit no variations in spectral features over the orbital phases, and indicate a spectral type of A7 IV-V. On the basis of the features of the light variation and spectral type, it is concluded that BD + 43 deg 1894 is a Delta Scuti star, with an absolute visual magnitude of 0.9 and a distance of about 700 pc.
