Abstract

We demonstrate the use of Bayesian analysis methods for the extraction of information from time-domain Voigt functions. In several forms of time-domain spectroscopy the physically interesting spectrum consists of a single exponentially decaying function. Often, however, this spectrum is contaminated by the presence of a non-exponentially decaying “instrumental” contribution. Here we demonstrate the use of Bayesian analysis to extract the exponential term from a Voigt function in which the instrumental contribution has been modeled by a Gaussian decay. The extension to other instrumental contributions is straightforward.
