Abstract
This paper considers the statistical decision theory aspects of the problem of classifying each member of a finite mixed population on the basis of feature observations. An improved Bayes classification rule is presented which takes the mix information fully into account. The standard Bayes test is also considered and the results of the two test are then compared via simulation to determine the improvement gained by using the new test.
