Abstract

Battery thermal management system is one of the main research directions and key systems for hybrid electric vehicles. There are many different battery thermal management solutions such as forced wind, natural wind and liquid circulation. This paper presents one PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) heating with forced wind thermal management system solution. The lithium battery thermal management system was designed. And the performance of the system was analyzed by simulation using the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software. Its control strategies were also studied. The prototype had been built and tested. The results showed that the thermal management system can meet the demand of lithium battery operation conditions.
