Abstract

This chapter describes the modeling and simulation of the external characteristics of the battery. The external characteristics are actually the relationship between current and voltage in the working process of the lithium-ion power battery, that is, the volt-ampere characteristics of the battery. The battery electrochemistry model refers to a series of electrochemistry equations established to express the battery characteristics according to the electrochemistry process of the battery. In general, the external characteristics of the power battery include the electromotive force characteristic and the over-potential characteristic. The chapter establishes a new power battery model with a high approximation degree, simple structure, and convenient parameter acquisition. When the battery behavior is estimated by the model, the model parameter should be upgraded in real time according to the operating conditions. The chapter introduces two parameter upgrade methods: offline extension and online identification.
