Abstract

This paper presents the state of the art of the most promising wireless power transfer (WPT) techniques for charging electric vehicle (EV) batteries, namely inductively coupled power transfer (ICPT) and capacitive power transfer (CPT). The working principle, compensation topologies and other related topics are addressed for these two methods. A particular attention is given to the ICPT and its application in dynamic charging is discussed, finally a comparison between the CPT and ICPT is given.
