Abstract

Power quality issues, such as abnormal voltage, current, or frequency, can cause equipment malfunctions and failures, resulting in financial losses. With the developing integration of RES into distribution networks through custom power devices like electronic power cassette adapters, there is a need to address the challenge of integrating the variable output of RES into traditional grids. Energy storage systems are a potential solution, but they are costly for RES applications. This study proposes a hybrid solar structure combined with battery energy storage systems (BESS) to optimize power consumption and improve power quality using a meta-heuristic approach. The research methodology involves simulation using real solar PV data. The significance of the proposed approach lies in its potential to enhance power quality while utilizing the maximum capacity of BESS, thereby improving the integration of RES into distribution networks and mitigating financial losses caused by power quality issues.
