Abstract

In the presented study the binding of Cs, Co, and Tc with hardened cement paste (HCP) under hyperalkaline conditions, with respect to sorption reversibility, has been investigated using batch-type experiments. The Cs, Co, and Tc sorption kinetics were determined and the distribution coefficients K d , representing the experimental systems, were obtained. The reversibility of the element sorption has been discussed in accordance with the published data. It was shown that the sorption kinetics was rapid and the equilibrium was attained within 1–5 days. The K d values clearly demonstrated the sorption dependence on both the chemical composition of the HCP and the element speciation.
