Abstract

Van Meel's analysis of batch drying is re-examined and the results of a numerical solution for a particular case are discussed when air recirculation is large and when absent. Moisture-content and drying-rate profiles with time and distance are presented. Local drying rates within the over rise when the material at the air inlet enters the second drying period. Under certain conditions with high air-recirculation ratios, such drying rates may exceed the initial drying rate at the air inlet.
