Abstract

To evaluate performance of nonflammable, high-voltage, large power transformers, the effects of pressure and dissolved SF/sub 6/ gas on the AC and lightning impulse insulation characteristics of perfluorocarbon were studied. With currents of up to 300 A in the conductor of an intercoil insulation model, phenomena relating to SF/sub 6/ gas bubble release from the conductor surface were studied. Relationships between the bubble release phenomena and the basic insulation characteristics of perfluorocarbon were determined.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
