Abstract

This article seeks to contribute to the debate within the Brazilian education reforms and, specially, the high school and its major challenges, addressing the political principles and the electoral complexity and dynamics that encircle the country's education policies. It has been made reference to bibliographies and documents able to ensure the most detailed analyses about the new High School. The results point to the education as a privileged space of political-party disputes, with plenty of discontinuities, in a centered electoral logic. The new High School reform, approved by a Provisional Measure, is enrolled in the dynamic and contains highly evident gaps, that cannot be filled with the immediate actions of the public policies. It can be concluded that the education field cannot live any more by immediate solutions, by reforms with electoral purposes, nonetheless with out effects in the scholar practices and the students schooling. In this direction, the High School system is not our major problem in the Brazilian education, therefore it just reveals the deficiencies of the entire Brazilian education system. Immediacy must be overcome urgently, otherwise the country will soon be no longer able to make the necessary leap and fulfill its responsibility to contribute to young people, to their human development, social and scientific, thus providing a better future to Brazilian nation.
