Abstract

We have developed the magnetic bearing using the high temperature superconductor (HTS). The rotor is supported by the pinning effect of the HTS. Levitation without control is realized. In the conventional model, the flux of the permanent magnet is not linked to the HTS and is not used sufficiently. In this paper, the yoke equipped rotor is introduced. In the yoke equipped model, the yoke is installed around the permanent magnet to concentrate the flux on the HTS. The static and dynamic characteristics of the rotor are measured. In the static characteristics, the levitation force increases 15.8%. Influence in the restoring force is little.
