Abstract
The article emphasizes new topics related to course design, which are caused by current problems of today: design of basement rooms with the function of shelter in an individual low-rise building. Emphasis is placed on the variability of the topics of the tasks with a clear program in the task, which to some extent imitates the real design and communication of the architect with the customer. The positive experience of issuing the task "Individual house for a family with premises for individual work" is presented, which prevents plagiarism and gives the volume-spatial solution some complexity and stylistic originality. The problems and advantages of implementing the topic of shelter in the task were considered, various options for such a solution were emphasized at the level of the student project of the 2nd year of the Faculty of Architecture.
