Abstract

A novel SBA-15 supported Keggin phosphormolybdic acid (HPM/SBA-15) was employed for the synthesis of 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) from 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) in [Bmim]Cl solvent. Multiple hydrogen bonds were formed between [Bmim]Cl and HMF, promoting the dissolving and oxidation. Under optimized conditions, HPM/SBA-15 provided 76 % yield of FDCA and 60 % after 5 runs, with complete conversions of HMF.
