Abstract

Bartonella species have been associated with cat-scratch disease, bacillary angiomatosis, peliosis hepatitis, and meningioencephalitis. Initial attempts to culture the causative organism were unsuccessful. Culture-negative endocarditis, is now believed to be caused by B henselae or B quintana. 1 Drancourt M Birtles R Chaumentin G Vandendenesch F Etienne J Raoult D A new serotype of Bartonella henselae endocarditis and cat-scratch disease.
