Abstract
•Recall how adequately the directors of nursing (DONs) in this survey believed pain to be managed in their respective nursing homes and what they viewed as the major barriers to effective pain management. •Summarize the pain management policies and resources in place at the DONs’ nursing homes and any efforts made to educate staff. •Outline the pain management interventions used—and those not used—at the 113 nursing homes included in this survey.
