Abstract

In 6 M HCl, at temperatures above about 80 °C, the barrierless discharge of undissociated acid molecules has been observed. The effective transfer coefficient α is equal to approximately 1.2 at 80 °C and decreases to 0.9 at 180 °C. This trend is explained by the substantial influence of the ø 1-potential on the barrierless discharge of a neutral particle.
