Barnaby King’s book Clowning as Social Performance in Colombia: Ridicule and Resistance examines a wide range of clown acts in contemporary Colombia, from circus tents to hospital bedsides, arguing that each act constitutes a social performance deeply enmeshed in the political and economic realities of the everyday lives of citizens.
