Abstract

Abstract Shime'on Bar Kokhba was a Palestinian Jew living in the second century CE . He appears to have been the undisputed leader of the second Jewish revolt in Palestine against the Romans (132–5), and for that reason, he has been a major hero in Jewish history, in particular in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries (Marks 1994).
