Abstract
This article, to be completed in April 2004, seeks to re-interpret the account transcribed by Benjamin Stinton of the origins of the Calvinistic Baptists. It suggests that (1) they adopted immersion a few months later (1642) than Thomas Lambe, Edward Barber and others later described as General Baptists; (2) that an Englishman named Timothy Batte may have been involved; and (3) that before the London 1644 Confession signalled the emergence of two denominations, General and Particular, London congregations were otherwise aligned.
