Abstract

Formation of optical solitons in quadratic nonlinear media under conditions for second-harmonic generation is investigated numerically in the presence of linear amplification at the fundamental frequency band. We show that both the efficiency and the bandwidth of soliton excitation can be importantly enhanced by the on-sample amplification. Implementation conditions in erbium-doped periodically-poled lithium niobate are discussed.
