Abstract

This article explains how the Baltimore County (Maryland) Public Library has employed small claims court measures in its overdues procedures. The library attempts to contact patrons with $40 or more in overdue materials. If the patron cannot be contacted and if the patron does not respond to letters, court action is initiated. The results of this approach are documented, and forms are appended.
