Abstract Photoelectric observations of relative fluxes in Ha, H , and H of ten plenatary nebulae, calibrated by measurements of stars with known continuous spectra, are presented. The measured line ratios are compared with the recombination theory, modified by interstellar reddening. They approximately agree with this theory, but the disagreement is larger than the uncertainty of the measurements, unless there is an undetected systematic error in the calibration. The measured line ratios do not show the deviations from the recombination spectrum that would result from self-absorption of the Balmer lines within the nebulae.
