Abstract

Strategies of balloon dilation during transfemoral carotid artery stenting (TF-CAS) include prestent dilation only (PRE), poststent dilation only (POST), or both pre- and poststent dilation (PRE+POST). Concerns over higher neurologic risk have been raised with POST and PRE+POST during TFCAS that may not be applicable to TCAR, which utilizes cerebral blood flow reversal during stent deployment and balloon angioplasty. Our aim is to analyze the outcome of PRE, POST or PRE+POST balloon dilation strategies during TCAR.
