BALCONIES LANDSCAPING OF URBAN SPACES IN UKRAINE AND GERMANY

Abstract

The article considers the design and landscaping of balconies as an integral partof the green infrastructure of the urban environment, which in the modern world arebecoming new platforms for recreation and social interaction. Their unique natural,communicative and social features are revealed. It emphasizes the ecological potentialof balconies and their role in the fight against global climate change.The advantages of creating balconies in modern urban space are described. Themain trends of landscaping balconies in Germany are analyzed. Their practical andaesthetic role in the urban landscape is demonstrated. The design phenomenon andfeatures of landscaping Ukrainian balconies are described. A comparative characterizationwas conducted and cultural differences in the creation of balconies in Ukraineand Germany were clarified. An optimal assortment of plants is offered, the use ofwhich is most appropriate for modern design of balconies in both countries.Ukrainians actively adopt the best European trends and successfully apply them.As a result, the number of aesthetically attractive and high-quality landscaped balconiesincreases every year in all cities of the country. Properly functional and organizedlandscaping of balconies is important in the modern urbanization of cities and is causedby the desire of people to have quality rest and have their own green space. This factprompts us to rethink the design and landscaping of these open urban spaces.
