Abstract

A novel amplitude sensitive optical heterodyne polarimeter in which a Zeeman laser associates with a balanced detector scheme to measure the optical activity |n/sub r/-n/sub l/ of a quartz crystal is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The sensitivity of the measurement to 8.5/spl times/10/sup -10/ is analyzed.
