Abstract

The balance equation approach is generalized to account for intra-collisional field effects. Specific results are derived for the miniband transport in a semiconductor superlattice. The inclusion of intra-collisional field effects into the balance equations gives rise to sizable quantitative changes of the drift velocity but does not lead to more qualitative modifications of the current–voltage characteristics which are due to Wannier–Stark localization.
