Abstract

Balance has been typically studied in the family therapy field as an issue for white, dual career, heterosexual couples dealing with responsibilities of work and family life. In this article, we argue for definitions that expand the discussion to include those who are often marginalized and, therefore, missing in such discussions. We suggest three broadly defined steps that feminist family therapists can take to redress issues of equity in family life and more broadly in society.
