Abstract

The Fiebig-Schwesinger description of P-wave baryons in the MIT bag model is analyzed and extended to the strange sector. Their method is found to give results in rough agreement with the method of DeGrand. It gives a rather good description of P-wave baryon masses or excitation energies in both nonstrange and strange sectors if the bag radii are reduced from 1.0–1.2 fm to about 0.6–0.7 fm. The limitations of the present study are briefly discussed.
