Abstract

A combination system of molecular oxygen, benzaldehyde, and carbon tetrachloride oxidizes various ketones to give lactones and esters in high yields at 40 o C, and addition of benzoyl chloride increases yields of the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation products at a lower temperature of 20 o C
