Abstract

1. Middle ear exudates were collected by needle puncture technique under aseptic conditions from 22 patients of different age groups. 2. Pneumococci (29.16%) were found to be the commonest organisms associated with acute suppurative otitis media. 3. The incidence of the coagulase positive staphylococci and Klebsiella were the same (12.5%) and are next in incidence to pneumococci. 4. H. influenzae though isolated by various workers were conspicuously absent. 5. Chloramphenicol is found to be the drug of choice as 66.66% of the strains were susceptible to this drug. Tetracycline resistant strains have been discussed.
