Abstract

Objective To investigate bacteriology of the conjunctival sac in patients before and after cataract operation.Methods 181 cases with cataract were studied.All samples were cultured for bacteria.and tested antibiotic sus-ceptibility Results Before the use of antibiotics eye drops the bacterial growth rate was 28.99%,but was 1.64% at the preoperative conjunctival sac,and the rate is 3.92% in the samples taken from conjunctival sac at the first postoperative day.Most of them were resistant to Amphemycin,Norfloxacin and Erythromycin but sensitive to Aneet.Neomycin Conclusion There are all kinds of bacteria exist in the normal conjunctival sac.Although there were Preoperative and postoperative disposition,bacteria appear in the conjunctival sac before operation and at the first postoperative day.Most of them were sensitive to Aneet,Neomycin etc. Key words: Cataract; Conjunctival sac; Bacterial culture; Antibiotic sensitivity
