Abstract

The intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acelonide (TA) is widely used with or without vitrectomy for the treatment of macular edema. 1 - 4 However, there is a potential risk of developing postoperative endophthalmitisafter TA injection. Most recently, one case of bacterial endophthalmitis after TA-assisted vitrectomy has been reported in Japan. 1 Here, we present a second case of culture-proven bacterial endophthalmitis after TA-assisted vitrectomy.
