Abstract

We have studied backward-wave phonon echoes at 9.3 GHz in several chalcogenide glasses. The input power dependence of the echo power can be modeled in terms of the non-linear mixing process of two laser fields in a gas consisting of two-level systems. A difference in this dependence between the arsenic and germanium chalcogenide glasses is observed.
