Abstract

We calculate the contribution of baryonic resonances to the differential cross-sections for single pion photoproduction in the backward direction using the quark model. The absence of peaks due to the D 13(1520) and the F 15(1680), and the presence of I = 3 2 peaks in photoproduction from protons is explained. Differential cross sections for photoproduction from neutrons are predicted.
