Abstract

Overturning wave cast is considered to be a reason of sea-spike generation, which increases the risk of radar false alarms. Therefore, study of the electromagnetic scattering of overturning wave crest is of great significance. In this paper, the improved two-dimensional (2-D) time-varying rough overturning wave crest is modeled. And the method of moment (MoM) was employed to investigate HH and VV backward scattering radar cross sections (RCS) for different incident angles, wind directions and wind speeds. Then the super phenomenon (HH polarization scattering intensity is greater than VV polarization scattering intensity) occurs frequently in the case of low grazing angle (LAG) and in some time samples as variations in the overturning wave crest. Moreover, Doppler spectra is also analyzed for the time-varying rough overturning wave crest model.
