Abstract
The response functions for monoenergetic electrons incident on anthracene, plastic and cesium iodide phosphors have been studied. A matrix method for correcting beta spectra for resolution and backscattering has been proposed and applied to electron spectra. The difficulties of applying backscattering correction to positron spectra have been discussed and a method of eliminating backscattering has been studied. The technique has been used to determine the end energy of the weak 1.8-MeV positron group from 22Na.
