Abstract
The depth of nitrogen- and carbon-saturated layer formed during nitrocarburizing of low-alloyed engineering steel is empirically determined as a function of the parameters of treatment: temperature, saturation time, and composition of gaseous medium. An optimum nitrocarburizing mode is determined, where the depth of the diffusion zone reaches its maximum value of 231 μm.
