Abstract
Summary In recent years, along with the remarkable advance of instrument receiving capability, it has been realized that point source/point receiver survey provides an opportunity to get better seismic data. In 3C survey or HD survey, only one sensor is used in every trace, so background noise dominates the records. The noise in point receiver data can not be removed substantially by traditional noise attenuation methods .This paper discusses a new method to minimize the background noise in point receiver data. The processing procedure includes two steps. Firstly, noisy traces are identified according to the energy distribution before the first break, then are suppressed or minimized in frequency domain. The amplitude envelops of noisy traces are restricted by normal trace, so the noise energy is minimized and data S/N ratio are increased. This processing method is amplitude preserved due to energy suppression is done only in noisy traces and suppressed frequency range is not the dominant signal frequency range. This method has been applied to field seismic data and good result has been achieved. Noise from producing well and vehicle has been suppressed effectively and data quality of stack section is improved. This method is suitable for point receiver seismic data noise attenuation, especially for the background noise attenuation.
