Abstract

The back cover picture describes a class of novel Ganoderma triterpenoids, isolated from the medicinal fungus of Ganoderma applanatum, which are characterized by a unique 6/6/5/6/5 pentacyclic system. The formation of the ether ring between C‐15 and C‐20 involves 1,4‐Michael addition reaction, and the different directions of OH‐15 attack Δ20(22) lead to two configurations of chiral center C‐20. Furthermore, compounds 1, 2 and 4 can dose‐dependently activate human pregnane X receptor (hPXR). More details are discussed in the article by Qiu et al. on page 2633—2641.image
